A Critics Choice Association (CCA) revelou os vencedores da 29ª edição do Critics Choice Awards. Em uma noite de gala realizada no The Barker Hangar em Santa Monica (Los Angeles), Oppenheimer saiu como grande vencedor da noite entre os filmes ao receber oito prêmios. Barbie o maior sucesso de bilheteria de 2023, ficou a segunda maior quantidade de prêmios entre os longas-metragens, vencendo seis categorias.
Entre as séries, Succession (HBO/HBOMax) consagrou a sua última temporada, enquanto O Urso (disponível no Star+) e Treta (Netflix) venceram quatro categorias nas disputas por Série de Comédia e Minissérie ou Telefilme, respectivamente.
Além dos vencedores da competição, houveram também os homenageados da noite. No Prêmio SeeHer, entregue para mulheres “que defendem a igualdade de gênero, retratam personagens com autenticidade, desafiam estereótipos e ultrapassam limites”. America Ferrera, atriz que recebeu a honraria deste ano, teve um papel marcante em Barbie, o grande sucesso de 2023 nos cinemas. Ferrera marcou o longa-metragem com um potente monólogo.
O outro prêmio simbólico da noite foi o Career Achievement Award, destinado a homenagear alguém por sua carreira. O escolhido deste ano foi o ator Harrison Ford, que coleciona papeis marcantes como o de Indiana Jones, Han Solo (Star Wars), Deckard (Blade Runner – O Caçador de Andróides), entre muitos outros.
